Back to School Savings at Walmart and a Giveaway

Summer is winding down way too fast.  Many of us are getting ready for Back to School.  We all know a big part of that is back to school shopping.

July 25-31 is a Teacher Appreciation week.  Earlier today I came across this article that Walmart is giving teachers an extra 10% off that week.  If you register your receipt from that week, they will give you 10% off on school supplies. Who doesn't want to save more money?

Did you know though that you can save at Walmart every week (besides just normal savings)?  I will be honest...Walmart is not my favorite shopping experience.  So, I really do not go that often.  However, we all know we can save money shopping there.

My husband and I are really watching our budget because we want to take a trip to Hawaii at Christmas. We would have gone for our tenth anniversary, but it's looking like we will go for our eleventh wedding anniversary.  I don't want to go to Walmart every week because we already go to three grocery stores regularly.  I decided I am going to start going to Walmart once a month during the second half of the month (when we have more money.)  Then on that monthly trip I can buy things like cat litter, water, Powerade, toilet paper, toiletries, school supplies, etc.

A fellow teacher told me about Walmart Savings Catcher and how it had saved her so much money.  I decided to try it. Earlier this week I spent $102 at Walmart.  I came home and entered my receipt at Walmart Savings Catcher.  I got an email yesterday that I am getting $9.27 back to spend at Walmart.com. That is about a 9% savings on top of Walmart prices already.

Walmart Savings Catcher checks your receipt and checks local sales at other stores in your area. Anyone in your area who had a better price they give that discount in the form of an e-giftcard.

Be a Better You Giveaway

I should have had a 500 follower giveaway over a month a go and a 1 year blog anniversary almost 2 months ago.  In 2013 I decided my word for the year was balance.  I am trying to make health and wellness more important.  I want to eat better, exercise more, and find joy on a daily basis.  I very much want to continue to grow my blog and my TpT store.  I also have come to realize that we all do the best we can and balance is most important. 

Last week I started a bootcamp fitness class that lasts for four weeks.  I am trying to make food adjustments to go along with it. As I am trying to work out and plan out what I eat, I am just trying to fit in time for grading, blogging, and creating products as best I can. I am also trying to remind myself to fit in more time for prayer and keeping my gratitude list. It is all about balance. :)

Now, I decided I wanted to do a giveaway related to being a better you.  What can you do to be healthier?  I am going to give away a $30 gift card to a place of the winner's choice.  The winner just needs to choose something that will help them be healthier. It could be to Whole Foods, Trader Joes, or maybe Academy.  Maybe even Amazon if there is a book or fitness item they have been wanting.

An Amazing Giveaway and Gratitude

Today we had a great day!  This was fabulous because yesterday was crazy.  The kids had a great Halloween party, but I was so tired at the end of the day.   Today my students worked really hard. We had some great discussions, and they worked independently when they needed to without causing too much disruption for others.  I had someone tell me one time that teaching gifted students is easier because they are more motivated.  This is not necessarily true.  Gifted kids can be so creative and absolutely amaze you when they apply themselves.  However, they also can be very emotional and sensitive.  Often, they also are used to things being so easy for them, that once something is challenging they fight it with everything they have.

Anyway, I am just happy that it was a good day!  In fact, I am thankful.  This month I plan on doing a gratitude journal with my students.  How do you bring up the subject of gratitude in your classroom?  This weekend I am going to work on my gratitude journal and maybe some other ideas for gratitude in the classroom to share. I would love to have guest bloggers do some posts related to gratitude in their own lives or classrooms.  Let me know if you are interested.

So, I finally am back for the last part of my 400 Follower Giveaway.  The last two nights I was just really tired. I have been reseaching Common Core math resources.  I am still trying to figure out how best to teach 4 grade levels of Math at the same time in one class.  Last night I took my own advice though and got a Tea Latte from Starbucks and some Pumpkin Cheesecake.



It was yummy.  I also got up this morning and went to an 8am hot yoga class, too. Oh my goodness...I needed that.  I did not realize just how tense every single muscle in my back was.

The weather here has cooled off.  It feels amazing.  It really is fall.  It makes me want to curl up back in bed.
